You should also do the following for good security practices:

1) Rename your ADMIN directory to something more obscure. Hackers use programs to scan for ADMIN directories, renaming it to something more obscure helps tremendously. After changing the name of the ADMIN directory, you will need to change the define ('DIR_WS_ADMIN) entry in /catalog/*newadmindirectoryname*/includes/configure.php

2) Password protect your new admin directory. Most web hosting providers have a utility in their cPanel to password protect directories. Also, use a strong password (mixture of letters and numbers, upper and lowercase) !!

3) Get the updated contact_us.php fix. This solves the XSS security vunerability that can allow hackers to use your contact_us.php as a SPAM relay. This fix is NOT part of the HTML area fix.

4) CHMOD your /catalog/includes/configure.php and /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php to 444 is possible. Otherwise, 644.
