Well the first thing you do NOT do is try to "think" like a search engine in
order to "outwit" their ranking algorithms.
You must consider that the target objective of any search engine ranking method
is to imitate how a human would rate the page.
If you craft your pages to be easily understood when presenting the information
that your visitor is looking for, then your job is about 90% finished.
All that is required is to do a bit of formatting of the content, and then write
the title, keyword, and description tags.
Write for humans presenting the benefits of your product or service first, thus
answering the basic question of "What's in this page for me?"
There are some that say
you do not need to use the keyword and description tags as they are dead and no
longer needed, but it is a quick and easy addition.
I suggest using a maximum of 6 keywords in each of the three tags and each tag
should be identical.
Do not use commas to separate the keywords in the tags.
When composing your page, try to keep it short, remembering to keep the main
message "above the fold", (displaying in the first screen).
Use your primary keyword phrase in header, bold, or strong tags and place it
where the search engines read first, in the header.
Repeat your primary keyword phrase in the body of your main text at the
beginning, and at the end in a descriptive anchor text link to an internal page.
This is a good place to incorporate a "call to action", (Buy our product), using
a descriptive link with your keyword phrase.
